The Body Keeps the Score

Recognize that the cognitive methods of this curriculum are necessary and insufficient. Suffering, trauma, and chronic stress have somatic dimensions that thinking does not reach. Engage the clinical research on trauma, the stress-response system, sleep, and movement — with explicit calibration of each author's overclaims — and run a 4-week body experiment. You cannot tune the application layer while the infrastructure is degraded. Sleep debt, chronic sympathetic activation, and sedentary stasis are infrastructure problems; CBT and meditation run on that infrastructure. The module's claim, in one sentence: most engineers attempt cognitive fixes for what are load and capacity problems at the hardware layer. Instrument first (the baseline weeks), intervene second, and respect that the body's telemetry (the tension patterns, the 3am waking) is data from a system that does not lie, even when the narrating mind does.
